Upcoming Movies Based On Young Adult Novels: 2011-2013
Based on the Book
The next couple of years promise an exciting line-up of movies based on young adult novels, including the next installments of several series: Breaking Dawn, Diary of a Wimpy Kid 2 and the final part of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
Classic literature gets its time to shine on the big screen, too. In 2011, the prequel to the Lord of the Rings Series, The Hobbit, will be released on film. Other classic adaptations including The Giver, Fahrenheit 451 and Jayne Eyre will also be in the theatres soon.
Breaking Dawn, Part 1 (Twilight Series 4)
In the next to last installment of the Twilight films, Edward and Bella must defend themselves against the full force of the Volturi, (a sort of vampire law enforcement agency). The film includes much of the original cast, with further performance by Dakota Fanning as the vindictive Jane.
Part II of Breaking Dawn will release in 2012.

Jane Eyre
In the lastest adaptation of Bronte's novel, Jane is a meek, underpriviledged governess, played by Mia Wasikoska, who works earnestly to gain the admiration of her master. Played by Michael Fassbender, Jane's master is haunted by secrets that threaten to destroy any relationship between them. Judi Dench, never one to miss, is playing Mrs. Fairfax.

Ripley’s Believe It or Not
The film is based on the life story of Robert Ripley, the founder of Ripley’s Believe It or Not. It follows his travels around the world looking for unusual and inexplicable things. In doing so, Robert, reportedly played by Jim Carrey, uncovers much about the human spirit and the diversity of our world.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2
The final film of the Harry Potter Series promises to be the most intense and darkest of them all. Harry and Voldemort meet for a final battle and no one will be left untouched. In keeping with the books, the final film is less for children and more for devout older followers of Harry and his peeps.

The Giver
Few details about the film are yet available. The novel is set in a futuristic community that knows no pain or violence. The protagonist is a twelve year old boy who has been given the role of keeping all of the memories of the community. In learning about the past, including wars, injustice and hunger. The boy must learn to balance all he has learned with his current reality.

Wimpy Kid 2: Roderick Rules
Zachary Gordon returns as Greg Hefflely in the next installment of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid films. Roderick, Greg's older brother, played by Devon Bostick, knows a secret that could humilate Greg in front of the entire middle school. In classic sibling rivalry, Greg must survive not only school, girls and his parents, but now must contend with a unreliable older brother.

The Hobbit

In this story, we follow Bilbo Baggins, Frodo's uncle, on a perilous journey that results in his aquiring a ring that carries unspoken importance.
